Poch\u00e1dza zo stredn\u00e9ho v\u00fdchodu a pou\u017e\u00edva sa ako korenie. R\u00edmska rasca (ang. cumin, nem. Kreuzk\u00fcmmel) sa od klasickej rasce\u00a0(ang. caraway, nem. (echter) K\u00fcmmel) podstatne l\u00ed\u0161i chu\u0165ou a v\u00f4\u0148ou. Tak ako sa obe l\u00ed\u0161ia napr\u00edklad od an\u00edzu alebo k\u00f4pru. Preto oby\u010dajn\u00e1 rasca nie je za r\u00edmsku rascu n\u00e1hrada.
